The Hypothesis of this paper is that fasting, when practiced mindfully, offers multifaceted benefits—enhancing metabolic health, fostering psychological resilience, and deepening spiritual awareness—making it a powerful, holistic practice rooted in both ancient tradition and modern science across cultures. This paper delves into the different nuances of fasting as portrayed in scientific literature, historical texts, religious doctrine, and anecdotal records from various cultures. Through a comprehensive literature review of both ancient practices and recent studies, and with case studies from traditions such as Islamic, Hindu, Christian, and Buddhist fasting, the paper explores how and why this ancient practice has endured and evolved.
